Botox injection is a cosmetic procedure in which botulinum toxin is injected under the skin with a fine needle. It freezes the nerve endings at the place where the injection is made, and the muscles become temporarily immobile. This affects your facial expressions and smooths out wrinkles. The appearance of new wrinkles is slowed down.
Botox is an FDA-approved drug that helps to smooth out facial wrinkles and lines by blocking nerves and weakening muscles. This ensures those nerves and muscles remain relaxed to keep the overlying skin smooth. Botox injections are most commonly administered:
What results should I expect?
Botox is a fairly simple procedure that never takes longer than 10 minutes to complete. Often, Dr. Bedi or one of his physician assistants can begin the treatment process during your initial consultation for your convenience.
A tiny needle will be used to inject the Botox drug into specific muscles on the face. Only a small amount will be used, and that’s all that’s needed to begin seeing results in as soon as three days. You may experience minor discomfort, as the injections are reported to feel like tiny pinpricks.
- At the outer corners of the eyes to smooth out crow’s feet
- Along the forehead to remove forehead wrinkles
- Between the eyebrows to relax frown lines
- At the top of the nose to smooth out bunny lines
- Along the chin to prevent dimpling
- Along the neck to reduce vertical bands
- Botox can also treat other health problems, such as chronic migraines, blepharospasm, severe sweating, and more
Results from BOTOX can be expected from between 4 to 7 days with full effects by 2 weeks. Based on your skin results should last between 3 to 4 months. Treatments should be maintained or the results will begin to diminish. We recommend follow-up appointments to keep the results maintained.
